The Literacy & Numeracy ICT Exhibition

Those of you who were fortunate enough to be able to attend the Literacy and Numeracy ICT Exhibition at Northampton on October 15th will know what a very worthwhile day it was.
There were several notable speakers including Mike Rumble, Bernice Barry and Janice Staines, and audiences left enlightened.
Some 28 Exhibitors demonstrated how their products could be used to enhance literacy or numeracy lessons. MAPE was also represented. The Maths Focus Pack was available, and we were able to demonstrate an early version of the History CD-ROM to be included with this mailing.
However, for those of you who were not able to go to the Exhibition, don't despair. Another Literacy and Numeracy ICT Exhibition will be held on 17th March 2000 in Stockport. The venue is Stockport County Football Club. Once again there will be three excellent Keynote presentations (a small charge will apply) and a comprehensive exhibition. Entrance to the Exhibition is free for delegates, so make sure you put the date in your diary now!

Edfuncation or Putting fun back into education

Reg Eyre

I would like to suggest a MAPE publication based on the theme of having fun with ICT. I am looking for like-minded teachers to share some of their favourite lessons and ideas when using the technology. In other words, I would like to put together a document that shows why we are enthusiasts for using the technology in our 'normal' teaching practice. The activities will probably relate to the National Curriculum, but this is not essential. Additionally they may be for any age group, and involve any aspect of ICT. I have assured the rather sceptical editor that I can gather enough responses and will put together such a publication!
