We welcome reviews of educational ICT products from teachers and other users for inclusion in MAPE publications.
The following is for guidance only.
There is no set length for a MAPE review; if you find you have a lot to say, the review will become a short (or even long!) article - but be prepared for it to be sub-edited down where necessary. The intention is that wherever possible reviews should include an account of actual classroom use, with reference made to joys and frustrations experienced. You may include comments from children if you wish, and photographs of children (with signed parental consent) using the software or really interesting printouts would be welcome. It should normally be possible to return photographic prints.
A review must include:
You should also bear in mind the following, and include as many as seems appropriate:
Primarily, the review should be about how the software works in a real classroom with real children. The majority of MAPE readers would not see themselves as ICT experts, and reviews should not dwell on technical matters. Whether or not you ultimately endorse the product, your review should provide pointers to good classroom practice.
Reviews should be submitted in printed form, and also on disc where possible
(using any standard file format). It would be helpful if printouts could also be
supplied in electronic form.
Reviews, if suitable, to be placed in the next appropriate edition of a MAPE
publication; they will, in any case, be submitted for inclusion on the MAPE
website.
Should you wish to place a product for review with MAPE please contact Dr. Bob Fox, b.fox@worc.ac.uk
