Design a Tudor Herb Garden
Use the planning grid to design a Tudor garden for growing herbs for use in cooking. All the information you need is in the
HERBS database.
Step 1
- Make sure that you only use herbs which have a culinary use.
Step 2
- Select ANNUALS for the centre bed. These will die off each winter and the ground can be dug over.
- Put taller plants in the centre of the bed and shorter ones in the corners.
Step 3
- Select PERENNIAL herbs for the corner beds.
These can be left from year to year and need no digging.
- Put different coloured flowers in each corner.
Make one corner for blue and one for white.
The other corners could be for yellow, purple, or pink flowers.
- Put the tallest plants in each bed at the back against the wall.
Step 4
- Make a label for the tallest and shortest herbs in your garden, showing the name of the plant and
its culinary use.
